What our students have to say about
Scottsdale Helicopter Services:
"Who says you cant teach an old dog new tricks?
All it takes is the right teacher, I found that in Mike Olsson.
After driving a truck for over 20 years I finally decided to
pursue a life long dream of being a helicopter pilot. Little money
and a demanding work schedule made flight training almost impossible.
I was very fortunate to meet Mike, he was very flexible with his schedule
and always made time to get my training flights done.
Thanks to Mike I not only got my private rating
but also my commercial /Instrument Rating
I would recommend Mike and Scottsdale Heli to anyone who is looking
for a great place to receive first class flight training."
~ C. T. Boardman
"I attended Scottsdale Helicopter services for about a year in 2008. The flight instructors are kind, knowledgeable, and fun to be around. There is no where else I would have rather taken my flight training. Mike and Donna are both great pilots who know how to make the training informative and effective, while giving you a great flying experience around the desert and mountains of Arizona. I would recommend them to anyone."
~ Benjamin Hood
“... I am a 61-year-old
male who is now a private pilot thanks to Micael Olsson and SHS. It
took 3 years to obtain my license since I live in Canada and could only
come down once a year, but it was because of Micael’s skills, that it
only took 55 hours total. Micael has qualities that so many do not
possess. He has the ability to coach you through the most difficult
tasks and make you feel very comfortable doing them. His ability to
explain things and show you how to achieve the task at hand is because
of his strong ability to explain any situation to anyone, and have them
completely understand.”
~ Gert Holmqvist, Canada
"Micael, helped me to get a local News Chopper job in Phoenix! He helped me to get my Flight Instructor License, as well as the Airline Transport Pilot License. Even though I had a language barrier, he helped me to be confident!
I met Micael when I was going to flight school 7 years ago. We still keep in touch and he is still my mentor/friend to me. He has helped me to get my license, a hard to get job, and some time gave me a part time job whenever I needed to work extra.
With his help, I have now flown 8 different types of Helicopters, ranging from 1 million to 12 million dollars aircraft, flying Emergency Medical Service, News, Grand Canyon, and Gulf of Mexico Oil exploration. And I have met many pilots in my carrier, but I have not met many pilots who posses a higher skill than Micael.
The problem with most flight schools is that it is used as a stepping stone instead of being a student's learning center. It is usually a way for the instructors to gain experience to move onto better jobs. So obviously, you will rarely find an instructor that has an experience.
This is the true reason why I recommend his flight school, because Micael is been a flight instructor for 20 years by his choice. If you are going to spend same amount of money anyways, it would make a lot more sense to go with someone who has the knowledge and skill."
~ Yoshi Minami, Captain S-76 at PHI
"After 30 years of flying with many ratings and instructors, I can't think of a more knowledgeable, personable and attentive instructor than Micael. His personality and enthusiasm made my lessons a lifetime of memories."
~ Scott Dick, Cincinnati, OH
“I flew down from Canada for about a week at a time over five sessions to do my private pilot helicopter training with Scottsdale Helicopters because they were willing and able to accommodate my demanding schedule. They made sure that there was always an R44 helicopter for me to fly at least once and often twice a day and the predictable Arizona weather meant I never wasted even one of the precious days I had set aside for learning how to fly. The pace of instruction was tailored to what I needed, not to some arbitrary schedule of training and when the day of my FAA check ride/private pilot flight test finally arrived, I really felt prepared.”
~ Dr. Claude Boutin, Calgary, Alberta, Canada
